Watch: Peter Noone Joins With The Red Button For New Song

by VVN Music

Peter Noone has joined forces with Red Button, the duo of singer/songwriters Seth Swirsky and Mike Ruekberg, for the new single "Ooh Girl".

Swirsky's credits include co-writing Taylor Dayne's "Tell It To My Heart" and "Prove Your Love" while Ruekberg has written for film, TV and advertising. Noone, of course, has been the lead singer of Herman's Hermits for over fifty years, scoring eleven top ten hits in the U.S. and ten in the U.K.

Released on JEM Records, the pairing was the idea of JEM president Marty Scott. "The idea for the pairing came from my listening to Side 1 of "Now It's All This" (the 2 CD Red Button retrospective & new EP) in my car. "Ooh Girl" came on and, in an A&R moment, it sounded like Peter Noone should be singing this song. Not knowing how to reach Peter, I contacted Alice Cooper's longtime road manager,Toby Mamis. a longtime Peter fan, who put me in touch with him. I then sent Peter the track."

Noone said "Marty sent me the song. As soon as I heard "Ooh Girl", my reply was "I'm in". The song sounded like an English walking in the London rain song. The next thing I knew I was in a studio and it was all fun and happiness."

Swirsksy talked about writing the song, saying "I wrote this song while sitting on a balcony in Paris on a beautiful Spring day. The words, music and story all just came to me in one sitting. It's always been one of my personal favorites.

"I had a chance to spend an afternoon at Graham Gouldman's house in London a few years back. Graham was a member of 10cc and is one of my favorite songwriters, having written such classics as "The Things We Do For Love", "I'm Not In Love", "Bus Stop" for The Hollies and "No Milk Today" for Herman's Hermits. I sent him "Ooh Girl" and he wrote back that he just loved it and it was the kind of song he might of written. That was of course a big thrill!"
