New In Streaming: Amazon Prime Adds an Amazing 57 New Concerts and Music Documentaries

The following is new music programming on Netflix and Amazon Prime that has premiered over the last week:

  • Born to Be Blue - This unconventional biopic tunes into the life of iconic trumpeter and jazz legend Chet Baker, capturing his passion and his struggles with addiction.
  • Stop Making Sense - Stop Making Sense is director Jonathan Demme's remarkable concert film that captures the enormous energy and joyous highs of the Talking Heads live performance.
  • B.B. King: Standing Room Only - This outstanding performance was recorded at the Trump Marina Hotel on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. B.B. delivers the goods on classics. This performance once again confirms that B.B. King is an American institution who deserves his rightful place among other American music icons such as Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
  • Prince: Sign O' the Times - A concert film with theatrical staging, featuring live performances by Prince and his band.
  • Aretha Franklin: Divas Live - This all-star tribute to Aretha, recorded live at Radio City Music Hall pays tribute to one of this country's national treasures. Previously unreleased, the undisputed Queen of Soul is joined by some very special guest stars including Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Stevie Wonder, the Backstreet Boys, Kid Rock, and more. Originally broadcast on VH1 in 2001.
  • Todd Rundgren: Todd - This live performance was recorded September 14, 2010. It is a first-time performance of his classic album in its entirety.
  • Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young: Fifty by Four - The incredible story of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, featuring exclusive interviews, rare performance footage and more. This is CSNY's story, a journey of breakthroughs, breakdowns, break-ups and incredible music.   • Michael Schenker Group: Live in Tokyo 1997 - This program features two supreme performances of the Master of the Flying V, as well as interviews. The track lists include highlights of all stages of Schenker's career: from UFO and Scorpions hits, through MSG classic tracks, to his solo compositions. Twelve songs from The Michael Schenker Story Live were never before recorded live.
  • Iggy & the Stooges: Live in Detroit 2003 - Features Iggy Pop and the original lineup of the Stooges (except for bassist Mike Watt) performing at their first Detroit homecoming in 29 years. This Creem Magazine release features Iggy Pop and the original lineup of the Stooges (except for bassistt) performing at their first Detroit homecoming in 29 years. It is a full concert of the best songs of the first two Stooges albums from 1969 & 1970. 
  • Iggy & the Stooges: Raw Power Live: In the Hands of the Fans - A reinvigorated Iggy and the Stooges performing Raw Power and more at All Tomorrow's Party 2010.
  • Cactus: Live, Loud & Proud - Killer performance footage recorded in various cities throughout the band's 2006 / 07 tour. Features Carmine Appice, Tim Bogert and Jim McCarty reunited with Jimmy Kunes on vocals. The group had just released a new album, Cactus V.
  • Poison: 7 Days Live - This superb live performance captured at London's Hammersmith Apollo in 1993 was filmed during their Native Tongue global tour and features hits from that album as well as classic tracks from the band's history including Unskinny Bop, Stand, Until You Suffer Some (Fire And Ice) and the power ballad anthem, Every Rose Has Its Thorn.
  • Richard Thompson Band: Live at Rockpalast January 26, 1984 - The show, recorded by German TV and radio station WDR on January 26th, 1984, is an incredible demonstration of Thompson's musicianship and shows a band in total harmony within itself delivering to its fullest. They carry the music of their"boss" and give him the lightness and the leeway to fully unfold his potential. The concert is an absolute must have for every Thompson fan.
  • Cracker & Camper Van Beethoven: First Annual Camp Out Live - On September 9 & 10, 2005, the bands Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker hosted the first Camp Out in Pioneertown, California. The bands celebrated two decades of work by coordinating special concerts with lineups featuring the original members. Also rare sets from such side projects Monks of Doom, Johnny Hickman, Victor Krummenacher, Jonathan Segel, Porch Stock Footage, and Greg Lisher.
  • Public Enemy - Public Enemy's 20 year career has had a monumental impact on the music world. This film chronicles their legacy and history, while revealing what icons of the music world say about their influence. Artists such as the Beastie Boys, Tom Morello, Henry Rollins and more reflect on the group's stunning power and creativity. Includes live concert footage from near and far, P.E. still has the power.
  • Dead Kennedys: Early Years Live - Features the seminal punk band Dead Kennedys, live from their early years at various venues, including the Mabuhay Gardens, the Sproul Plaza at Berkeley and at Target Studios 1978 through 1981. Much of the material is from the classic debut LP "Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables." In addition to 9 live songs, there is also footage from Jello Biafra's Mayoral candidacy in San Francisco.

  • Guided by Voices: The Electrifying Conclusion - A chronicle of the last four hours of one of the greatest bands in rock, in Chicago, on New Year's Eve 2004.
  • Ween: At the Cat's Cradle - Full show from 1992. This was the early days of live Ween and the band was actually the duo of Dean & Gene with some samples and tapes and a drum machine. For anyone who caught them live around this time, the shows were unreal and unforgettable.
  • Joe Louis Walker: Live in Istanbul - Joe Louis Walker, live in Istanbul in 1995. It was my first time performing in Turkey. We were very surprised to find the audience very supportive and knowledgeable. Musicians are always asked 'What kind of audience was it'' My answer is usually'There's mostly two kinds: the kind of which the music hits them in the head, or in the heart.' That night's audience was hit in both places.
  • The Quireboys: Beautifully Cursed: Live in Islington - Filmed at the O2 Islington, London - this performance was filmed as part of the bands 2013 Beautiful Curse tour and features many new songs from that album along with classic hits such as 'Hey You','7 O'Clock' and'I Don't Love You Anymore'.
  • Blackalicious: 4/20 Live in Seattle - On 4/20/06, Blackalicious and 1200 fiends from the Pacific Northwest piled into Seattle's Showbox Theater to capture some boombastic moments . Gift of Gab and Chief Xcel, alongside their supporting cast, deliver a legendary performance sure to go down in hip hop history. Joining them as part of this 45-day tour was Lateef, Pigeon John, LifeSavas and Fat Lip of the Pharcyde.

The Todd Rundgren - Todd is not a performance. Just an interview. Very disappointed to find this out, as Todd is my favorite of his albums.
