- 1969 - The film Goodbye Cream, shot at the group's 1968 farewell concert, debuts.
- 1969 - The X-rated film Candy premiers. One of the stars is Ringo Starr in his first non-music role.
- 1976 - The footprints of all four members of Kiss were implanted in cement outside Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
- 1988 - Louis Armstrong, who passed away in 1971, has the highest debuting song in Billboard with What a Wonderful World.
- 1992 - Paula Abdul and Emilio Estevez announced their engagement.
- 1998 - The first of two concerts honoring the late-Nicolette Larson is held.
- 2002 - James Brown was found not guilty of sexually harassing a former employee; however, he was found guilty of wrongful termination and ordered to pay the ex-employee $40,000.
- 2003 - 99 people were killed in a fire at the West Warwick, RI nightclub The Station. Sparks from a pyrotechnics display by Great White caused the fire. The group's guitarist, Ty Longley, was one of the victims.
- 2004 - Brian Wilson kicked off a four-night run at London's Royal Albert Hall playing the Smile album.
- 2005 - Edwyn Collins was rushed to a hospital with a brain hemorrhage.
- 2007 - Britney Spears opened a U.S. tour in Houston, TX.
