by VVN Music

After huge success with Loggins and Messina and his solo career, Kenny Loggins was drawn into the world of film music, hitting another career high.

The Guild of Music Supervisors have chosen Loggins to receive their first ever Icon Award, saluting the work that he did in such movies as Caddyshack, Footloose and Top Gun.

Loggins music not only enhanced those films but were also instrumental in promoting the movies with top ten hits like "I'm Alright" (Caddyshack), "Footloose" and "Danger Zone" (Top Gun).

Other movies in which Loggins' music appeared includes A Star is Born ("I Believe in Love"), Fast Times at Ridgemont High ("Never Surrender"), Rocky IV ("Double or Nothing") and Thelma & Louise ("No Lookin' Back").

Thomas Golubić, president of the Guild of Music Supervisors, said "Caddyshack, Footloose, Top Gun. It was the Kenny Loggins songs that sealed the deal on those movies becoming part of our collective experience of the 1980s. You remember the first time you saw those films and how you felt when the credits rolled. We are so thrilled to have Kenny Loggins accept our inaugural year in celebrating the great Icons of music in media."

The Guild of Music Supervisors will present their awards for music in film, television, documentaries, trailers, promos, video games and advertising on February 8 at The Theater at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.

Mary J. Blige is nominated for Best Song for a Film for "Mighty River" from Mudbound which she wrote with Raphael Saadiq and Taura Stinson.
