ABC Pulls Three-Hour Rolling Stone 50th Anniversary Special From Schedule

by VVN Music

A three-hour Rolling Stone magazine 50th anniversary special that was supposed to air on ABC on February 7 has been pulled from the schedule.

The show, which was supposed to include live performances and looks back at the magazine's history, was announced last May by the network but abruptly cancelled on Wednesday (January 3).

The network has not said why they made the move but the Rolling Stone empire has been under fire in recent weeks.  There had been speculation early in the Harvey Weinstein fueled #metoo movement about Wenner's own actions but it came to a head in recent weeks when a journalist stated that the owner had offered him a writing job if he would have sex.

In addition, Wenner and his sons were set to executive produce the special as part of the Wenner Media group.  Since the May announcement of the special, the company has been sold to Penske Media.
