Nile Rodgers Reveals He Had Surgery For Two Different Cancers Earlier This Year

by VVN Music

In 2010, Nile Rodgers told the world that he was suffering from cancer and, after beating it, he jumped into a career renaissance that included his Grammy winning Daft Punk collaboration and the resurgence of his band CHIC.

In a new blog on his website, Rodgers talks about that resurgence and goes into the losses he has endured in the last couple of years including David Bowie, Prince, George Michael, Chris Cornell and a young cousin while adding that his mother was going through Stage-IV Alzheimer's.

Then, in August, he was in the hospital fighting an E.coli infection when it was discovered he had a growth on his kidney that turned out to be cancer, not just one but two different forms in one mass.  After finishing a number of scheduled dates, he had the mass removed and says he has a prognosis of 100% recovery. He ends with "CANCER REALLY? I'm done. 2018 here I come!"
