Robyn Hitchcock, Richard Thompson Plead For Help For Ailing Musicians

Hitchcock & McCaughey
by VVN Music

Two of Britain's great singer-songwriters, Robyn Hitchcock and Richard Thompson have led the calls of financial help for fellow musicians.

Hitchcock solicited for American artist Scott McCaughey:

The wonderful Scott McCaughey suffered a stroke last week in San Francisco. Scott is the most beloved of all the musicians I know: he's in so many bands because so many people want to be in a band with him. He's expected to make a full recovery, but he needs time, rest and medical supervision. We can all help by donating here:

McCaughey was in the Portland-based groups The Young Fresh Fellows and The Minus 5 and worked with R.E.M. from 1994 to 2011 both on tour and in the studio. He later went on to form The Baseball Project with Peter Buck, Steve Wynn and Linda Pitmon along with playing in Buck's bands Tuatara and The No Ones and in Hitchcock's The Venus Three.

Thompson is trying to help American guitarist Jerry Donahue who has played with artists such as Fotheringay and Fairport Convention.

Donahue, 71, moved to England as a young man where, along with Fotheringay and Fairport Convention, he also toured with the likes of Robert Plant, Elton John, Warren Zevon, Bonnie Raitt and many more. He suffered a major stroke on July 29, 2006 and has been recovering since.
