Early Fan Vote Favors Bon Jovi, Moody Blues For the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

by VVN Music

Things aren't as clear cut in the fan vote for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

In the past, there were normally five acts that were above and beyond the others in the yearly selection process for fans.  This year, there is definitely a clear front runner, Bon Jovi, and the Moody Blues, Dire Straits and The Cars are strong but, after that, things bunch up a bit.

The Eurythmics are in fifth with Judas Priest, Depeche Mode and the J. Geils Band not far behind.

These totals are surprising, because there has been a regular clamor for more hard rock bands to be inducted with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest the most often mentioned.  It was expected that Judas Priest would be fairing much better.

Than there are the two first year eligible nominees Radiohead and Rage Against the Machine. The fan vote has normally favored at least one of these types of artists in any year but, for 2017 (2018 induction) Radiohead is in tenth place with only a little over one-quarter of the votes of the front runner.  Rage Against the Machine is even worse off in twelfth with only 22% of the votes of Bon Jovi.

The totals as of October 9, 2017.
