Foo Fighters Stay Top 2 in Britain; Van Morrison in at 4, Black Country Communion at 7

by VVN Music

The Foo Fighters were knocked from the top spot on this week's British Albums chart by the Killers but they only fell one spot to number 2, giving them the top charting album by a veteran artist for a second week. They also have the number 10 album for the week with Greatest Hits.

Van Morrison premiered at number 4 with Roll With the Punches, the same positing that he started in last year with Keep on Singing. That makes both albums among the highest charting in Morrison's 50-plus year chart career.  Only Magic Time (2005 / #3) and Still On Top: The Greatest Hits (2007 / #2) charted higher.

Black Country Communion, with Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Derek Sherinian and Jason Bonham, scored their highest charting album as BCCIV opens at 7.  Their previous best was their self-titled debut in 2010 which went to 13.

At 14 is the debut of Shadows and Reflections by Marc Almond, his highest charting solo album in 33 years going back to his days with Soft Cell. Their This Last Night in Sodom peaked at number 12.  His previous highest charting solo studio album was Stories of Johnny (1985 / #22) although two hit packages did make the top ten.

Bucks Fizz, now known as Fizz premier at 25 with The F-Z of Pop. This is their first studio album since 1986 and highest charting since 1983's Hand Cut (#17).

Cradle of Filth premiers at 50 with Cryptoriana: The Seductiveness of Decay, falling just short of the peak of their last set, Hammer of the Withches (2015 / #44) which tied as their best charting set with 2003's Damnation For a Day.

The Killers top the Albums chart with Wonderful Wonderful followed by the Foo Fighters, Divide by Ed Sheeran, Morrison and The Spark by Enter Shikari.

On the Singles chart, Sam Smith stays at number 1 with Too Good at Goodbyes followed by Post Malone Featuring 21 Savage with Rockstar, Dua Lipa with New Rules, Camila Cabello Featuring Young Thug and Havana and CNCO & Little Mix with Reggaeton Lento (Remix).
