The Victor Wills vs. Australian Village People Promoter Feud Intensifies

by Paul Cashmere, Noise11

One time Village People singer Victor Willis has jumped into a slanging match with Australian promoter Duane McDonald following an article by Cameron Adams in the Herald Sun.

Willis left The Village People to go solo before Can’t Stop The Music but returned for a short and unsuccessful stint a few years later. His solo career never took off.

Willis will tour Australia later this year as The Village People, just five months after the long-time Village People had toured the country. The fans are confused.

How embarrassing – Victor you should have joined UB40.
Good luck with your cover band, hope they can learn the songs before summer

You are a bitter twisted man Victor , and quite amusing. You left the group for a failed solo venture, now want some glory back ? Fuck off

Yeah I guess the "cover band" I booked sold out many shows in May. Have you checked how your sales are going?

In Cameron Adams article in the Herald-Sun, Willis claims he terminated the former Village people’s rights to perform on June 1 this year.

The longtime touring Village People took to Twitter to send this message to Australia after Willis’ version was announced.

Fans of the longtime Village People have not seen the last of the band in Australia. According to Noise11 sources, “you may be seeing them again sooner than you think”.
