Green Day's Glasgow Show Cancelled at Last Minute; Band Issues Statement

by VVN Music

Green Day's Tuesday (July 4) show at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, Scotland has been cancelled after the promoters deemed impending weather too dangerous.

The show was the last of the band's U.K. tour and the cancellation didn't come until Tuesday afternoon. The promoter, PCL Presents, posted "We are sorry to inform you that due to adverse weather conditions it is no longer safe for the bands to perform on stage and unfortunately today's show will be cancelled. Tickets will be refunded from point of purchase within ten working days."

Also on the bill were Rancid, Slaves and Skids.

Green Day released a statement expressing their disappointment:

Glasgow, we are very sad to report that our show today at Bellahouston Park has been cancelled. The local safety council, production crew, and concert organizers have deemed the stage unsafe for the fans and everyone involved. We are very distraught about this as we are in Glasgow now and were very much looking forward to this show as one the highlights of our tour. We have been playing in extreme weather conditions throughout this European tour, and the last thing we want to do is see a show cancelled. We love our Scottish fans and we don't care if its raining fucking sideways, although the safety of our fans and our crew is always our top priority. We love you Scotland, we love the city of Glasgow and it goes without saying that WE WILL BE BACK!

Fans were less tactful in their comments:

I love greenday but if Dave Grohl can break a leg mid show and come back and finish the show says alot about them. Just a wee bit of rain.

What about travel and hotel expenses that's a total joke it's due to stay dry for rest of the day!!!

Seriously? Decades of TITP and all sorts of other big gigs and a wee bit of rain is suddenly a show-stopper? What a f****** shambles.
