The winners of the 2017 Webby Awards were announced on Tuesday with a number of musical artists, both veteran and modern, taking home prizes.

The winners at the Webbys are broken into two distinct categories. The actual Webby Award is chosen by a panel of judges while the People's Choice Award is picked by a public ballot. There are two awards given in every category.

Solange was the biggest winner from the musical field, taking Webby Artist of the Year. The awards said of her honor.

The Webby Awards is thrilled to recognize Solange as Artist of the Year in celebration of her remarkable use of the Internet as a force for promoting community and diversity. Not only is Solange one of the greatest artists of our time, but she’s also a true artist of the online generation. Solange has demonstrated her digital prowess in myriad ways, most notably with the website Saint Heron—her collaborative platform and online store for artists. Saint Heron is an unparalleled celebration of cultural diversity and the evolution of music; and it’s through this platform that Solange has provided a completely new and unique space for collaboration between artists, as well as a large audience for creative expressions by artists of color. Of course, Saint Heron is a natural extension for Solange, who regularly uses her Twitter account of nearly 3 million followers to celebrate diversity, and to promote racial and social justice. For her unique understanding of the power of the collaborative nature of the Internet, it’s our privilege to honor Solange as the 2017 Artist of the Year.

Daryl Hall's Live at Daryl's House was a double winner, taking home both the Webby and the People's Choice Awards in the category of Film & Video - Music (Channels and Networks).

In the category of Film & Music - Music, the Washington Post took the Webby for their piece The Inside Story of When Run-DMC met Aerosmith and Changed Music Forever; however, the People's Choice went to The New Yorker for their Joe's Violin.
