Watch: Pat Benatar's First New Release in a Decade is a New Anthem for Women's Rights

by VVN Music

Pat Benatar has released a brand new song, Shine, dedicated to the women's movement and Saturday's Women's March on Washington as an "anthem and rallying cry".

Her first new song in over a decade, it was co-written by Benatar and Linda Perry and produced by Benatar's partner, Neil Giraldo.

No less than Gloria Steinem said "Pat Benatar's "Shine" helps us to light the path ahead. Like Emma Goldman and Fannie Lou Hamer, she knows there's no revolution without music."

Benatar said "Even though I can’t be at the Women’s March on Washington in person, I wanted to show my support for everyone marching and the importance of standing up for women’s rights. By joining together and lifting each other up, we will show the world that women’s rights must continue to move forward – we’re not going back. The song is not anti- anyone, this is about unity and inclusion, and the incredible power that women wield – especially when we support each other."

Shine is available for download at and at most digital sites. The organizers have priced the song at 69 cents as a way of drawing attention to the wage gap faced by women. All proceeds will go to the B.A. Rudolph Foundation supporting women pursuing careers in public service and government.
