Passings: Ralph Johnson of the Impressions

Ralph Johnson, a member of the Impressions from the 70's through 2000, died on Sunday, December 4 at his home. No cause of death was given. He was 67.

Two messages were posted on Facebook from what appears to be his wife, the first on December 4 and the second on December 8:

To everyone tell my darling husband see you later cause Jesus called him home today at 12:21 pm I love you with all my heart I'll see you later

To all Ralphs friends and Facebook family on December 4,2016 God called Ralph home he was my life for 32 years and he is gonna truly be missed by everyone!!!

Born in Greenville, NC, Johnson joined the Impressions in 1973 after the departure of Curtis Mayfield. He stayed until 1976, appearing on such hits as Finally Got Myself Together (I'm a Changed Man) (1974 / #1 R&B / #17 Pop), on which he sang lead, Sooner or Later (1975 / #3 R&B / #68 Pop) and Same Thing It Took (1975 / #3 R&B / #75 Pop).

Ralph joined the group Mystique who released one album, Mystique Featuring Ralph Johnson, in 1977.

Johnson returned to the group in 1983 for a much longer tenure until 2000. During the time the group continued to record, appeared on Eric Clapton's album Reptile and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; however, Johnson was not selected to be a member in the hall.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Addie, three daughters, two sons, sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
