Celine Dion was "touched" to be able to pick up an award of behalf of her late husband Rene Angelil.

Music producer and talent manager Rene lost his battle with cancer in January at the age of 73, leaving behind his wife of 21 years and their children Rene-Charles, 15, and six-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy.

Rene is never far from Celine’s thoughts and, on Sunday, she got to pay tribute to her late husband by accepting the Felix trophy for him at the 2016 ADISQ Gala.

"Of course it was a great honor for me to receive trophies over the years, but to be here to receive a trophy that’s not for me, that’s even more touching," Celine shared backstage, reports montrealgazette.com. "He’s not physically present, but I’m sure he’s here tonight. I don’t think he missed any of this, and I’m sure he’s very proud."

The gala was held at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier of Place des Arts in Montreal, Canada.

Canadian superstar Celine looked glamorous in a delicate lace top paired with a floor length black skirt featuring a thigh high split. Both pieces were adorned with red love hearts.

Taking to the stage to collect the award, Celine told the audience: "Not only one of the greatest visionaries of the Quebec music industry. He was also one of the biggest fans of musical artists that ever existed.

"He had an immense respect for people who had that passion. Rene always thought of others before he thought of himself."

Meanwhile, Dion is keeping her schedule clear for December so she can spend quality time with her children as they mark their first Christmas without their father.

She took some time off from her Las Vegas residency to grieve the double loss, but returned to the spotlight in May at the Billboard Music Awards, where she was honored with the Billboard Icon Award.

Celine has continued to keep herself busy with her live shows, but she will reportedly be taking an extended break over the festive holidays to help her three children with Rene cope with his absence.

"She's taking all of December off to spend with the kids," a source tells People.com. "She's still grieving, but she's doing everything she can to keep as happy and as healthy as possible. It's all about the kids."

The My Heart Will Go On hitmaker recently treated her sons Rene-Charles, 15, and birthday boys Eddy and Nelson to a trip to Disneyland in California, and she shared one snap of the smiling family on Instagram on Thursday as they enjoyed a ride on Pinocchio's Daring Journey.

"Family time in Disneyland for the twins' 6th birthday!" she captioned the photo, in which they all pretended to be scared. She added the hashtags, "#FunTimes #HappiestPlaceonEarth".

The insider says of the mini-vacation: "They are holding their own and trying to make the best of what life's giving them. (The twins) love Disneyland. They went for their last birthday."
