VH1 Classic, the home of That Metal Show and a lot of movies from the 80's is about to be laid to rest.

On August 1, MTV Networks will replace the network with MTV Classic which will move the focus from the 80's to the 90's. Goodbye Breakfast Club, hello Beavis and Butthead.

Even though they are targeting the 90's, the new network will kickoff at 6 AM next Monday morning with a 35th anniversary celebration the launch of the original MTV by re-airing the first hour of programming. They'll follow at 1 PM with a retrospective of Total Request Live and a marathon of MTV Unplugged episodes.

Regular programming will include prime time blocks of animated fare such as Beavis and Butthead, Daria and Aeon Flux while post-10 PM will include shows such as Jackass, Cribs, Run's House, Pimp My Ride and Wonder Showzen.

Fridays will be dedicated to the live performance series Unplugged and Storytellers while the weekends will include marathons of other older MTV series such as The Real World and Laguna Beach.

MTV's Sean Atkins said "From Beavis & Butt-Head to Laguna Beach, MTV's programming vault is a music and pop culture gold mine with universal resonance. MTV Classic gives audiences a modern and artful home for classic MTV programming and, alongside MTV, MTV2, MTV Live and mtvU, rounds out a diverse portfolio with music and youth culture at its core."
