Blink-182 Finally Unseat Drake From the Top of the American Charts; Maxwell Has Second Biggest Seller

by VVN Music

This week there are TWO veteran artists at the top of the albums sales chart.

Hits Daily Double has released their final charts for the week, predicting the sales and sales plus streaming based on a sampling of retailers, and Blink-182's California is at number 1 on both tallies.

There have been a number of cases in recent months where a veteran artist has had the biggest selling album of the week but a lack of streaming has pushed them lower on the final comprehensive chart; however, Blink-182's outstanding sales number combined with Drake finally starting to fade on the streaming front have given the veteran rock band a chance to break through the logjam.

California has projected sales of 171,000, far outdistancing Maxwell's blackSUMMERS'night with 58,000 and Drake's Views with 40,000.

Blink picked up another 14,000 units based on streaming, representing about 21 million streams, giving them a grand total of 185,000 units. Drake, on the other hand, added around 77,000 units for streaming (115.5 million streams), pulling him up to second overall. Maxwell drops to third after picking up only about 2,500 extra units from streaming.

The only other veteran artist to make either of Hits Daily Double's charts with a new album is Snoop Dogg whose Coolaid is at 16 with only a projected 8,000 in sales. With streaming, he moves up to 12,000, putting him at 35 on sales plus streaming.

Final positions will be out next Tuesday.
