Newsboys Debut at 14; Loretta Lynn, at 19, Scores Highest Charting Album Ever

Loretta Lynn had done it.

Earlier in the week, we wrote a story saying that the country legend was projected to have the highest charting album of her career on the Billboard 200 and, with a start this week at 19, she has achieved that goal. Full Circle beats her previous best, 2004's Van Leer Rose, which went to 24.

The album also starts at 4 on the Country chart which is two lower than Rose made in 2004. There were fewer high charting country albums at that time in 2004 while, this year, Loretta was beat out by Joey + Rory, Chris Stapleton and Granger Smith.

Even at 19, Lynn did not have the highest new album by a veteran artist. That went to the Christian Rock group the newsboys whose Love Riot debuts at 14. That is there second best showing on the Billboard 200 after 2010's Born Again peaked at 4. The album tops both the Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts.

At 87 is another Christian act that is usually a little more reliable in chart placement. Steven Curtis Chapman's Worship and Believe, his second album for Reunion, falls far short of 2013's The Glorious Unfolding which started at 27. Chapman's highest charting albums were 2001's Declaration (#14) and 2003's All About Love (#12).

Another various artists collection, which have been regularly charting over the last few weeks, 20 #1's: Alternative Rock, debuts at 159 while the first album by the Violent Femmes in sixteen years, We Can Do Anything, opens at 184.
