Keith Urban Pays Tribute to His Father at Funeral

Keith Urban gave a moving tribute to his beloved father at his funeral in Australia on Wednesday.

The country star's dad Robert passed away on December 5 following a battle with cancer, and Keith jetted to Queensland to lead mourners at his memorial service. Keith's actress wife Nicole Kidman, and their two young daughters, were reportedly too upset to attend the funeral, leaving the musician to grieve with his relatives.

During the service, Keith gave a eulogy remembering his late dad and admitting he was in a lot of pain as he neared the end of his life. "I am so deeply grateful that Dad is not suffering anymore," Keith told the congregation. "I loved him so much and did not want him to suffer like he was towards the end.

"So the release he now has gives me all the peace that I need to create this new spiritual relationship with my father."

Keith's brother Shane also spoke, and his kids performed a musical tribute to their grandfather.

Robert's collection of vintage cars and motorcycles were put on display during the funeral to honor his long-time hobby, and mourners included country singer Troy Cassar-Daley.

The tragedy comes just a year after Nicole's father Anthony Kidman died in Singapore at the age of 75 in September, 2014 after falling in a hotel.

Keith previously said in a statement, "I've been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support that (Nicole Kidman) and I, and our family, have received since my dad's passing on Saturday night... His long battle with cancer is now over and he is finally at peace."
