Interviews: Daryl Jones, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Jon Stevens and David Lowy of the Dead Daisies

The Dead Daisies are an Australian supergroup formed by Austalians Jon Stevens of INXS and David Lowry of Mink. Also in the current lineup are Dizzy Reed and Richard Fortus (Guns N' Roses), Darryl Jones (Rolling Stones) and Charley Drayton (the Cult).

Noise11 had the pleasure to talk to five of the members of the band during recent rehearsals in Sydney.

Darryl Jones

Since 1993 Darryl Jones has been the bass player with The Rolling Stones but before Mick recruited him he played with jazz legend Miles Davis.

Darryl is also playing bass with Australian supergroup The Dead Daisies. He recently recorded new music with the band in Los Angeles and is part of the live band touring the UK with Black Star Riders.

Dizzy Reed

The keyboard sound from Guns N’ Roses Use Your Illusion belonged to Dizzy Reed. Reed joined Guns N’ Roses in 1990 and he is now part of The Dead Daisies line-up.

Richard Fortus

Richard Fortus was a member of The Psychedelic Furs and went on to form Love Spit Love with Richard and Tim Butler before hooking up with Axl Rose in 2001 and becoming a member of Guns N’ Roses.

Richard played on GNR’s Chinese Democracy and toured the world with Rose when he was asked to join Australian supergroup.

With The Dead Daisies, Richard has toured with Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Jane’s Addiction, Alice In Chains and Black Star Riders.



Jon Stevens

Jon Stevens is one of Australia’s best known names and best known faces.

The New Zealand born Stevens has had three number one albums in Australia with his band Noiseworks. He has also been part of three productions of Jesus Christ Superstar, most recently playing Pontius Pilate in the Australian production with Mel C and Tim Minchin.



David Lowy

David Lowy is the curator of The Dead Daisies. As a rock and roll entrepreneur, Lowy and Noiseworks frontman Jon Stevens got the cast of all-stars. He is also the rhythm guitarist and co-writer in the band.

David Lowy has had a long career in line-ups of Red Phoenix and The Angels with Doc Neeson and as part of Sydney band Mink.
