Tommy Lee Says Goodbye To His Rollercoaster Drums

Tommy Lee of Motley Crue has said goodbye to his 360 drum-kit rollercoaster, sending it to the retirement home.

“Tonight the 360 drum rollercoaster will roll it’s final time! ‪#upsidedownlife ‪#historybooks,” Tommy tweeted on Saturady.

Motley Crue fans attending the Atlantic City show at Trump Taj Mahal will be the last ones to witness Tommy’s rollercaster drums-kit, one of the highlights of the Motley Crue show. On the current tour Tommy has played his drum solo from inside the rollercoaster, mostly upside down.

Motley Crue will perform two festival shows in Minnesota and Wisconsin in July and then its back to Vegas for a residency at the Hard Rock Hotel.

“We are proud to have pioneered the Las Vegas rock residency last year and can’t wait to come back this year to take it over the top with a brand new show that will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen Mötley Crüe do before,” said Nikki Sixx.

For anyone who missed it, here is fan shot video of one of Lee's drum solos:

-- when these guys started I was on my 20s already… saw them the first time at the San Diego Sports Arena during their Theatre of Pain tour… saw them again at the Ritz, in New York City, for a Girls, Girls, Girls night, and then at Mexico City's Sports Palace with John Corabi for one hell of a great grunge show… saw them again opening for KISS, last fall where I saw the rollercoaster drumming, and they weren't that cool to be honest… I am 51 now, and still enjoying everything the band has done through the times, they're great and they always will be… cheers!

I love Motley Crue! Such a powerful source in my life. I started listening to the crue when I was in 7th grade! I am in my 40's now and still love them. I have never heard a better band and I have lots I love. Tommy Lee is the best drummer in the industry in my opinion. He has tons of rhythm and for a woman of color that makes a difference, add in Nikki's pounding bass and you've got a combination of shake that booty time while you rock out!

I've only seen the Crue once and that was when I was 16! I had to get all A's that semester in High School! I did it and got the prize.

Love you guys. I'll be moving to Vegas in a year or two. I am praying you all are still there!

Peace
