Bon Jovi Outsells Bowie in the U.S. by Over 15,000 Units

While it looked like a close race early last week, it turns out that Bon Jovi definitely had the upper-hand, outselling David Bowie in the U.S. by over 15%.

Sales prognosticators Hits Daily Double has their sales index, which roughly approximates sales, at 100,415 for Bon Jovi's What About Now and 83,118 for Bowie's The Next Day, placing them 1-2 for the week. Final sales figures and chart positions will be announced by Billboard tomorrow and Thursday, based on SoundScan measurements. With the difference between the sales of these two albums, it is virtually impossible that their positions will change.

Two additional veteran artists will debut in the top ten this week with Eric Clapton's Old Socks coming in at 6 with estimated sales of 38,414 and Dave Grohl's Sound City: Real-to-Reel soundtrack at 7 with 37,995.

Estimates show Jimi Hendrix' People, Hell and Angels falling 2 to 11 in its second week on sales in the area of 28,000.
