Whitney Houston Album Sales Continue to Soar, But That's Not the Only Amazing Projection For Next Week

Whitney Houston's Greatest Hits album is looking to keep growing in the week after her passing. After leaping into the top ten last week, an early take on this weeks sales from Hits Daily Double has it selling in the area of 80 to 90,000 more copies, good for (at this early point in the week) number 4.

Van Halen's and Paul McCartney's second week of release for their respective albums look to be dropping into the same 60 to 65,000 area for a projected 6 or 7 on the chart.

Tony Bennett's Duets II looks to be getting a boost from the Grammys, projected to move 25 to 28,000 copies, good for the low teens.

But the real story falls outside the realm of veteran artists. After going 6-for-6 at the Grammy Awards, Adele may have found an estimated 650 to 680,000 more people who hadn't already bought her album 21, equal to the sales of the next eleven albums combined. That gives her a whopping 1.5 million albums sold since the beginning of the year. Per Hits Daily Double, we're only seven weeks into 2012, but could Adele pull off having the biggest selling album of 2011 AND 2012?

Final projections will be out from the site next Tuesday and the final charts released by Billboard next Thursday.
