  • 1957 - Buddy Holly & the Crickets auditioned for Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts and were rejected. 
  • 1963 - The Beatles hit number 1 in the U.K. for the first time with the album Please Please Me. They would stay there for 30 weeks only to be replaced by their own With the Beatles which would hold the top for another 21 weeks. 
  • 1965 - Johnny Cash was arrested in Starkville, MI.
  • 1967 - Paul Petersen signed with Motown Records. 
  • 1972  - David Cassidy appeared nude on the cover of Rolling Stone. 
  • 1973 - Wings opened their first official tour in Bristol, England. 
  • 1981 - Frank Zappa released four albums in one day.
  • 1988 - A tribute to Irving Berlin on his 100th birthday is held at Carnegie Hall with Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, Rosemary Clooney & Bob Hope.

  • 2004 - Willie Nelson cancelled a series of shows to get carpal tunnel surgery. 
  • 2006 - George Michael was in his second car crash in a month after a photographer took a picture of him sleeping in his car. The singer quickly pulled away but hit a short pole.
