  • 1967 - The police raided Keith Richards' home in West Sussex, England while he was throwing a party. 
  • 1968 - Jimi Hendrix returned to Seattle to receive the key to the city and perform at his High School. 
  • 1974 - The Bottom Line opened in New York City. 
  • 1976 - The Sex Pistols played their first ever London show.
  • 1981 - Debbie Harry announced she would make a solo album. 
  • 1989 - Aretha Franklin lost a $1 million court case brought by the producers of the Broadway show Sing Mahalia Sing after she failed to show up for rehearsals. 
  • 1989 - Tiny Tim announced he was running for Mayor of New York. 
  • 1997 - U2 announced their Pop Mart tour at a K-Mart store in Greenwich Village, New York. 
  • 1997 - David Bowie received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
  • 1998 - Elton John was knighted by Queen Elizabeth. 
  • 2003 - John Densmore sued his former Doors bandmates Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger for trademark infringement when they used the Doors name for their current group. He also filed for breach of contract and unfair competition.
  • 2003 - The surviving members of the Grateful Dead change their band's name from The Other Ones to The Dead. 
  • 2007 - It was announced that the Police were reforming.
  • 2008 - Ron Isley lost his appeal of a three-year sentence for tax fraud.
