U2 had the highest grossing tour of 2017 according to Pollstar's year-end chart.

Their tour brought in $316 million dollars on 50 shows. They're followed by Guns N' Roses with $292.5 million for 81 shows and Coldplay with $238 million on 54 shows.

Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran are the only artists in the top ten that do not qualify as "veteran" artists who have been recording for twenty years or more (note that Coldplay actually hits that mark in just a few days, so we've included them as veterans on this list). Overall, veteran artists take 14 of the top 20.

The top artists in the top twenty based on average ticket price is heavily skewed by Bruce Springsteen's Broadway run, his only live shows this year.  To date, he has done sixty shows in New York and grossed $87.8 million for an average ticket price of $1,500.85.

Beyond Broadway and secondary theater market prices, the highest ticket price in the top twenty goes to the Rolling Stones ($158.51) followed by Celine Dion ($148.12), Paul McCartney ($146.15) and U2 ($116.47).  Overall, 11 of the 20 had average ticket prices under $100 with Garth Brooks having the lowest at $70.81.

U2 sold the most tickets overall at 2.71 million followed by Guns N' Roses (2.67 million), Coldplay (2.46 million), Bruno Mars (2.03 million) and Depeche Mode (1.81 million).
