Sales of U2's "Songs of Experience" Drop Over 80% in Second Week

by VVN Music

U2 did well in the first week of release with Songs of Experience but they've taken a mighty fall in week two.

Songs' sales dropped 83% from its opening week, a larger drop than most albums, and has fallen to number 7 on the predicted Sales chart from Hits Daily Double and 15 on Sales Plus Streaming, which is the methodology used for the Billboard 200 Albums.

U2 only sold an estimated 28,100 in week two which only jumped to 31,250 with streaming added in.

Meanwhile, Garth Brooks continues to sell well with his Anthology, Part 1: The First Five Years with sales dropping just 11% in its fourth week of release.  His estimated sales for the week is 36,400 with no bump from streaming, putting him at 5 in Sales and 12 in Sales Plus Streaming.

Barbra Streisand's new live album, The Music...The Mem'ries...The Magic failed to stir a lot of interest in its first week of release, selling just 11,300 copies for number 23 on the pure sales chart and not picking up enough in streaming to make the top 50.

Seven Christmas albums by veteran artists continue to sell and stream well enough to make the combined top fifty including Michael Buble who looks to have the biggest album of the week by a veteran artist and Nat King Cole who manages the very rare feat of making the Sales Plus Streaming top 50 without enough pure sales to make the associated list:
