Eminem Wins Best Hip-Hop, U2 Receives Global Icon Award at MTV EMA's

by VVN Music

The MTV EMA's were held Sunday (November 12) at the SSE Arena Wembley in London with a host of modern artists taking the bulk of the awards.

Eminem was the loan veteran to take a prize in the voted categories, winning for Best Hip-Hop despite the fact that he had only released one track ("Walk on Water") and that song was put out within 48 hours of the ceremony. The show opened with Eminem performing the song with the co-writer Skylar Grey instead of Beyonce as heard on the recording.

Shawn Mendes was the big winner, taking home awards for Best Song ("There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back"), Best Artists and Best Fans.

Not having such a good night was Taylor Swift who led all nominees with six nods and taking home no awards.

U2 received the already announced Global Icon Award and performed the new song "Get Out of Your Own Way" in a pre-recorded segment from London's Trafalgar Square.
