Best of 2017: Rough Trade Releases the First Year-End List

...and we're off.

Record store Rough Trade is the first out-of-the-block with their list of the 100 best albums of 2017.

This yearly ritual will last through the beginning of the 2018 and VVN Music will, once again, be compiling the lists giving special emphasis to the placings of veteran artists who have been recording for twenty years or more.

We will also be keeping our yearly ranking on how those albums have fared over all of the lists which, last year, included sixty different tallies.

For Rough Trade's list, they picked Party by goth-folk singer Aldious Harding as the best album of the year but, following at number 2, is Ryan Adams' Prisoner.

Interestingly, number 3 is an album that won't be released until this Friday (November 24), Bjork's Utopia.

Other veteran artists making the list include Queens of the Stone Age, Thurston More, Liam Gallagher and Bjork.

As in other years, we will list the top five for each list followed by all other positions with veteran artists.  A link is provided to the full list:
