Best of 2017: Rolling Stone, Consequences of Sound, Glide, The Independent, Paste

by VVN Music

Five more sources weigh in today on the best albums of 2017 including stalwart Rolling Stone who, as usual, shines a light on many more sets by veteran artists than most other publications.

The magazine was the first to put U2's upcoming album Songs of Experience on the list, making it the number 3 album of the year.  Amazingly, they also listed Bob Dylan's much maligned third album of standards, Triplicate, in the number 35 spot.

Other artists getting first mentions include Lindsey Buckingham & Christine McVie, Gregg Allman, Tracy Bonham and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings.  They also must still think that Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher have some interest in being grouped together, lumping them both at number 37.

Overall, the Queens of the Stone Age remain on the top of our compiled list after eleven sources weighing in. New to the top ten from our last week, Aimee Mann's Mental Illness which jumps to number 3 after coming in on three of the five lists below, and Jay-Z's 4:44 which has crept up the ranks by making five lists overall but, mostly, in lower positions.
