Beck's "Colors" and Robert Plant's "Carry Fire" Sell Well, But Can't Beat P!nk

by VVN Music

Beck and Robert Plant had little hope for snagging a number 1 album with P!nk in the room.

P!nk's new album, Beautiful Trauma, has been estimated to have 385,000 in sales and 407,000 with sales plus streaming in its first week of release according to Hits Daily Double.

Those are HUGE numbers in this day and age and dwarfs both Beck and Plant who each have sold less than 10% of those numbers.

Beck's Colors looks to be the second biggest selling album last week with 35,500 units in sales and 41,000 when streaming is added, putting it at an estimated number 4 overall for the week.

Plant was just behind in third in pure sales with 23,000; however, he only picked up around a thousand additional units from streaming so he is looking to come in around 15, although Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's Greatest Hits is only 73 units behind him.

Wu-Tang's The Saga Continues didn't do as well in pure sales with 19,400 (#6) but picked up quite a bit in streaming, moving it to 24,600, putting it a step ahead of Plant on the sales plus streaming chart.

The L.A. Guns moved around 4,400 copies of their new album The Missing Peace, good for 35 on the Hits Sales chart but streaming didn't contribute enough to keep it in the top 50 on Sales Plus Streaming.

Young and old like Rock music. Unless they are victims of "Country" disease.
So how can Beck and Plant expect to have high sales numbers? And do they even care?
Probably not. If they cared, they'd produce stuff that makes you get the old spine tingle
and a need to drive around in a car and replay certain songs over and over.
None of that impact is present on Beck or Plant's personal headtrip albums.
Pooh.
