Eric Records Finds More "Hard to Find 45's" From the 70's

Ever feel like those standard hits-of-the-70's compilations don’t quite capture the 1970's that you remember? Like many of your personal favorites, even big hits, are rarely included? That’s why Eric Records created Hard To Find 45s On CD, Volume 18: 70s Essentials – to bring back those seldom-heard classics that other collections have forgotten. The new collection is due on October 27.

These 21 chart hits include two major stereo debuts, “Venus” by Shocking Blue and “Gypsy Woman” by Brian Hyland.

Some of these hits aren’t even available to download! Like the #1 hit “The Night Chicago Died” by Paper Lace, “Sometimes When We Touch” by Dan Hill and "Tired of Toein' The Line" by Rocky Burnette. If you want to hear the originals the way they ought to be heard – in sparkling, uncompressed audiophile quality – then this is the set you've been looking for.

Choice cuts include the rare single version of “Tubular Bells” by Mike Oldfield, the sweet country-pop favorite “Daisy A Day” by Jud Strunk, and Bobby Vinton’s rare & final Top 10 hit “My Melody of Love,” all sounding as if they could have been recorded yesterday.

The album includes a 12-page booklet with bios & notes by Greg Adams. Over 72 minutes of audiophile quality sound.

The track list:
  • Venus - Shocking Blue [STEREO DEBUT]
  • Fox On The Run - Sweet
  • Hocus Pocus - Focus

This great addition to the Hard To Find 45s on CD series has 21 beautifully remastered songs -- rare hits like Kermit the Frog’s “Rainbow Connection” - the Muppet Movie theme that became a surprise Oscar nominee & Top 40 hit in 1979 – and Timmy Thomas’s one-of-a-kind Top 3 hit “Why Can’t We Live Together,” never in stereo until now.

After 45 years, finally making their CD debuts are The Neighborhood’s “Big Yellow Taxi” - the first hit version of the famous Joni Mitchell song – and the Sugar Bears’ “You Are The One,” a bright ray of sunshine pop that features a young Kim Carnes on background vocals.

The collection runs the rock-and-roll gamut, from the folk-rock of Joan Baez’s “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” and Arlo Guthrie’s “The City Of New Orleans” to the horn-driven rock of “Vehicle” by Ides Of March. And from the slinky glam-rock of T. Rex’s “Bang A Gong (Get It On)” to the lovers’ rock of Gerry Rafferty’s “Right Down The Line” and the Latin-rock of Malo's "Suavecito."
