Set List: Four Voices (Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Indigo Girls) @ Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, TN

by VVN Music

At first, the joining of folk icon Joan Baez with country singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter and the folk-rock duo the Indigo Girls seemed a bit odd but, the fact is, they have been friends for some time and the blending of the four voices is nothing short of amazing.

The four took the stage during Baez's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, singing Deportee and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down and opened their Four Voices Tour on June 2 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

While each performed their biggest songs, there were also deep cuts from albums, including the Indigo Girls' Ray and Salier's solo work, and covers from artists like Eliza Gilkyson, Tom Waits, Antony & the Johnsons and, of course, Bob Dylan).

There was also a bit of political content, as would be expected, with Baez performing her new song for Donald Trump, Nasty Man.
