Neal Schon Calls Out Journey Keyboardist Jonathan Cain on Social Media

by VVN Music

Neal Schon, the lone member of Journey to have been a member from inception until today, appears to be quite unhappy with keyboardist Jonathan Cain.

Yesterday (June 4), Schon took to Instagram to declare:

Bringing it every night πŸ‘†πŸΎ I want to be elevated by whom I play with not feel like I've got cement shoes. If anyone is unhappy they are Not running My band then They should Leave. God has bigger plans πŸ™πŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ‘ŠπŸΎ

He went on to carry on a conversation with fans on the post. When a poster told him to never walk away, he said "why would I? Never ! that would make them happy 😊"

Later, he mention Jonathan Cain specifically as a problem:

yes I've stated how I felt about mixing Religion and Politics and how our music is not of 1 religion - democratic or republican. This is and has been an issue with myself Mr Cain and his now wife since he married. I've had to fight this whole time to protect the Brand I built with Steve Perry way before Gregg and I picked Cain to replace himself when he wanted to retire from the road back then. Well frankly I'm tired of having to defend all by my self. Ross is no help. I continue to grow and be completely creative and want to take the band Neal Schon's JRNY on an exciting new trip musically. Yes we will always have all hits to play But there must be musical growth also. I also need to surround myself with people that care as I do. I'll never stop πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ€˜πŸΎπŸ‘†πŸΎ

When a fan mentioned that Cain always looks miserable on stage, Neil said:

I've finally gotten to the point of Enough. Im a very patient person - so I've been told by many including Carlos Santana and he's said wow - How and Why do you do it ? I did it out of love but not receiving any back. They don't give a shit so now I don't either. Your skin becomes tough but it has to to endure ... bottom line I'll always be JRNY as it's been my baby from birth. Herbie and Steve Perry will tell you the same as he did at RRHOF πŸ™πŸΎ thank you Steve for the truth

Jonathan Cain did not directly respond but posted the following:

Jonathan Cain has been the keyboard player for Journey since 1980.
