Columbia/Legacy to Release 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition of Shawn Colvin's "A Few Small Repairs"

by VVN Music

On February 25, 1998, Shawn Colvin took to the stage at the 40th Annual Grammys to accept two of the big awards of the night, Record of the Year and Song of the Year, for Sunny Came Home..

The song was a highly unusual choice. A mid-tempo pop melody held a much darker lyric that told the story of a woman who fled her past by burning her home to the ground. In the Record category, it beat R. Kelly's classic I Believe I Can Fly and Hanson's infectious MMMBop while, in the songwriters category, it topped Fly and How Can I Live.

Sunny became the focal point for Colvin's 1996 album A Few Small Repairs and, on September 15, Columbia/Legacy Recordings will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the set with a new, expanded version of the album.

Along with the twelve original tracks which also included the songs You and Mona Lisa and I Want It Back which went on to be the theme for NBC's series Suddenly Susan, there are seven bonus songs, all live renditions of music from the album from various performances.

Fans can preorder the album at Pledge Music in different packages that may include two bonus items, a digital EP, A Few Extra Repairs, with four additional tracks, and an exclusive DVD with promo videos, interview segments, live performances and rehearsal footage.

This fall, Colvin will hit the road with the A Few Small Repairs 20th Anniversary Tour. Her first major tour with a full band since the album's original release, the seven-week cross-country jaunt runs from September 30 through November 19 and will showcase Shawn performing the album in its entirety alongside a variety of hits, personal favorites and surprises from her repertoire. Multi-instrumentalist-singer Larry Campbell & his wife singer-guitarist Teresa Williams will support all dates in addition to appearing in the band.
