Sisters Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer to Release Collaboration

by VVN Music

Veteran singer Shelby Lynne and her sister, Allison Moorer, will release their long delayed collaboration, Not Dark Yet, on August 18 via Silver Cross Records/Thirty Tigers.

Lynne released her first album in 1989 but it was her sixth, I Am Shelby Lynne, that brought her recognition and a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Over the last 28 years, she has released thirteen studio albums including her superb salute to Dusty Springfield, Just a Little Lovin' (2008).

Moorer released her first album nineteen years ago and has nine studio sets to her name. In 1998, her song A Soft Place to Fall was used in the film The Horse Whisperer, bringing her an Academy Award nomination. In 2005, she married fellow singer-songwriter Steve Earle.

Now, the two singers will come together for the first time on the album which was made last year with producer Teddy Thompson. Nine of the ten tracks are covers of songs by artists ranging from the Louvin Brothers and Bob Dylan to the Killers and Nick Cave. The final track on the album, Is It Too Much, was written by the two sisters.

The track list:
  • My List
  • Every Time You Leave
  • Not Dark Yet
  • I’m Looking For Blue Eyes
  • Lungs
  • The Color of a Cloudy Day
