by VVN Music

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band's Greatest Hits album has passed the ten million mark in sales and has been certified Diamond by the RIAA.

Released on October 13, 1994, the album went Platinum in three months and was four-times platinum before the end of 1999. Since then, it has continuously sold, hitting nine-times platinum in 2012 and moving to Diamond (or ten-times Platinum) today (May 30).

Another hits collection, the Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits 1974-1978, which was already Diamond, received its 14th Platinum award indicating sales north of fourteen million copies.

The oldest album to recently receive an RIAA award was the Jefferson Airplane's 1967 album Surrealistic Pillow which went Gold on July 24, 1967 and received its Platinum certificate just three months short of fifty years later.

Other artists receiving Platinum Albums included Eminem (The Marshall Mathers LP 2 went four-times Platinum), Janis Joplin, Metallica and Keith Urban, who received four awards. A Tribe Called Quest's We Got It From Here...Thank You 4 Your Service went Gold.
