New Bee Gees Compilation Coming on April 21

by VVN Music

The Bee Gees have had a number of compilations over the years but Capitol/UMe has decided we need another one with the release of Timeless: The All-Time Greatest Hits, out April 21.

Really, the constant recycling of old catalogs is not a bad thing. Each new collection finds a new audience with younger listeners who may have skipped over earlier releases in the store or on the download site and it also catches those fans who may be looking for a new experience with the music.

Barry Gibb said of the set "There is a spirituality about this album and these songs always meant the most to us. Although there are many other songs, these songs, I feel, are the songs that Maurice, Robin, and I would be most proud of."

The new set ties in with the CBS presentation of Stayin' Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees with artists like Celine Dion, Nick Jonas, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder and Gibb himself singing the songs of the group.  The special airs on Sunday, April 16.

Also out on April 21 is a newly remastered version of Saturday Night Fever in a 2 LP set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the film. A new director's cut of the film, remastered in 4K, will hit shelves on DVD and Blu-Ray on May 2.
