Loretta Lynn to Release Her Third Album in Seventeen Months

by VVN Music

Loretta Lynn had pretty much put her recording career on the back burner.

Between 1994's Making More Memories and 2004's Jack White produced Van Lear Rose, she only released one set (Still Country (2000)) and then took twelve years off until her 2016 set Full Circle.

Full Circle came out in March of 2016 and, in October, she released White Christmas Blue. On August 18, she will release her third studio set in seventeen months with Wouldn't It Be Great.

The new set is comprised entirely of songs wither solely written by Lynn or co-written with Sean Camp, Lola Jean Dillon, Patsy Lynn Russell and Peggy Sue Wells. One song, the traditional Lulie Vars, was arranged by Lynn.

Along with new songs, Lynn reprises three of her older compositions, God Makes No Mistakes from Van Lear Rose, her first number 1, Don't Come Home A' Drinkin' (With Lovin' On Your Mind) and the classic Coal Miner's Daughter.

Lynn said "I think you try to do better with every record you put out. It's just everyday living--and everybody wants to know, 'Well, what is it about your songs that people like?' I think you've got to tell your stories. I just think it hits everybody, you know, the songs."

In support of the album, Loretta has set a number of tour dates throughout the rest of the year. In addition, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum are celebrating Lynn's 50 years in music by mounting a new exhibition on her life, art and music, which will open on August 25.
