Booker T., Eric Burdon & the Animals, Phil Lesh Set For the 50th Anniversary Monterey International Pop Festival

The Monterey International Pop Festival has announced their initial lineup for the 50th anniversary edition of the show.

Looking back to 1967, the lineup ranging from the Association and the Mamas & the Papas to Jimi Hendrix and Otis Redding seems like a dream come true but, at the time, many who we now consider classic artists were relative newcomers just like many on the new festival schedule.

Hitting the stage at the Monterey County Fairgrounds on June 16 to 18, 2017 (exactly fifty years, to the days, after the original festival) are (in poster order and with veteran artists in bold):

  • Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires
  • Dr. Dog
  • Eric Burdon & The Animals
  • Father John Misty
  • Gary Clark Jr.
  • Hiss Golden Messenger
  • Jack Johnson
  • Jackie Greene
  • Jacob Banks
  • Jamtown feat. Cisco Adler
  • Donavon Frankenreiter and G. Love
  • Jim James
  • Kurt Vile & The Violators
  • Langhorne Slim & The Law
  • Leon Bridges
  • Nicki Bluhm & Dirty Dozen Brass Band
  • Norah Jones
  • North Mississippi Allstars
  • Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band
  • Regina Spektor
  • Sara Watkins

Additional artists are expected to be added to the bill.

Three-day tickets go on sale this Friday (April 21) at 10 AM PT.
