The Country Music Hall of Fame has announced their newest members.

Vince Gill took to the podium in the rotunda of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville on Thursday (April 6) morning and announced that Alan Jackson, Jerry Reed and songwriter Don Schlitz would be the 2017 inductees into the hall.

The Country Hall is a very inclusive group with only three artists or executives added each year. With the new additions, the membership is now at 133, a very small total for an organization that inducted their first members (Jimmie Rodgers, Fred Rose and Hank Williams) in 1961.

Alan Jackson only had his first hit in 1990 with Here in the Real World but, since, has amassed 49 top ten country hits of which 25 went to number 1. He has also crossed over numerous times onto the Hot 100 with his biggest being It's Five O'Clock Somewhere with Jimmy Buffett which peaked at 17 in 2003. Other big songs included Chattahoochie (1993 / #1 Country / #46 Pop), (Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning) (2001 / #1 Country / #28 Pop), Remember When (2003 / #1 Country / #29 Pop) and Good Time (2008 / #1 Country / #40 Pop).

Jerry Reed was a master guitarist, singer and songwriter, recording his first records in the late-50's and having his first hit as a songwriter in 1960 with Brenda Lee's That's All You Gotta Do. His big hits as a songwriter included Porter Wagoner's Misery Loves Company (1962 / #1 Country), Johnny Cash's A Thing Called Love (1972 / #2 Country) and Elvis Presley's Guitar Man. His own hits included Amos Moses (1970 / #8 Pop), When You're Hot You're Hot (1971 / #9 Pop / #1 Country), Lord Mr. Ford (1973 / #68 Pop / #1 Country) and East Bound and Down (1977 / #2 Country).
