Status Quo to Play One Last Electric Tour of Australia For the Late Rick Parfitt

by Paul Cashmere, Noise11

Status Quo founder Francis Rossi will pay tribute to Rick Parfitt, his partner of almost 50 years, in a final electric tour with Status Quo in Australia.

Rossi changed the name of The Spectres, his band with Alan Lancaster, to Status Quo when Parfitt joined the band in 1967.

Status Quo went on to become the most successful UK singles band in history generating over 60 chart hits, more than any other rock band even to this date.

The Quo lineage changed permanently on December 24, 2016 when Rick Parfitt died. The official cause of death is listed as sepsis, a disease of the tissues and organs.

Francis Rossi will tour the electric Status Quo band featuring John ‘Rhino’ Edwards and Richie Malone on guitars, Andy Bown on keys and Leon Cave on drums. Bown has been a member of Quo since 1976, Edwards joined in 1985, Cave in 2013 and Malone, as the replacement for Parfitt, in 2016.

Status Quo dates:
  • 10/11 - Auckland - Vector Arena
  • 10/13 - Gold Coast - The Star (formerly Jupiters Casino)
  • 10/15 - Sydney - Sydney Opera House
  • 10/21 and 22 - Rock The Boat cruise
  • 10/24 - Melbourne - Hamer Hall
Tickets go on sale on March 6, 2017
