Metallica Jumps to Number 2; Veteran Country Artists Dominate Chart

by VVN Music

Metallica jumps 14 to 2 with Hardwired...to Self-Destruct, on the strength of albums "sold" with tickets to their tour.

The album is also at the top of three other major Billboard charts, Independent Albums, Rock Albums and Hard Rock Albums.

Beyond Metallica, the next four out of five albums by veteran artists on the chart belong to country artists. Garth Brooks' The Ultimate Collection, on serious markdown at Target with the ten-disc set at $7.99, is at number 25 while Keith Urban's Ripcord continues to show amazing resilience 44 weeks after its release at 31.

Alison Krauss' brand new covers album, Windy City, is at 32 and Reba McEntire's religious album, Sing It Now: Songs of Hope of Faith, comes it at 47 in its fifth week of release.

Eminem and Beyonce continue to be the most dominant veteran artists on the Billboard 200 with Eminem placing four albums and Beyonce having three.
