Metallica Jumps 37 to 14 in Their Fifteenth Week of Release

by VVN Music

Metallica's Hardwired...To Self Destruct has now been out for fifteen weeks but there are still fans who haven't bought the new album. That's why it jumped last week from 37 to 14, giving them the highest charting album in the U.S. by a veteran artist.

Hardwired is also the top selling Hard Rock album in the country.

The second highest is one step lower at 15, Garth Brooks' The Ultimate Collection. The ten disc set, which didn't chart the first four weeks of release because the per-disc price of the album was below Billboard's threashold makes a huge comeback after Target, the exclusive source for the album, dropped the price from $29.99 to $7.99 to clear copies out.

Alison Krauss' first solo album in 18 years, Windy City, drops 9 to 29 in its second week but remains strong among veteran artists.

The only new album by a veteran to make the Billboard 200 is the Old 97's Graveyard Whistling which debuts at 82. That gives the band the second highest charting album of their career but it falls well short of their last set, 2014's Most Messed Up, which went all the way to 30.
