Eric Clapton Postpones Los Angeles Shows Due to Severe Bronchitis

by VVN Music

Under doctor's advisement, Eric Clapton has pulled the plug on his two Los Angeles shows this weekend.

Clapton was scheduled to play both Saturday and Sunday night at The Forum in what he has called the end ("I swear this is it, no more").

The dates are being pushed to Wednesday, September 13 and Monday, September 18, shoehorned around his second set of L.A. dates on the 15th and 16th.

The official statement:

Due to severe bronchitis and under doctor’s advisement, Eric Clapton is rescheduling this weekend’s two shows at The Forum in Los Angeles. The Saturday March 25th show will now be held Wednesday, September 13th. The Sunday March 26th show will now be held Monday September 18th . He is very sorry to disappoint his fans but looks forward to these shows. Ticketholders can retain their tickets for the new dates or refunds will be issued at point of purchase. In addition, Clapton will play the already scheduled two shows at The Forum September 15th and 16th.

Clapton played two shows in New York earlier in the week (see our Set List article on Sunday's show to see what he played) and had almost a week off before the L.A. dates. He now has two months to fully recover before hitting the stage of Royal Albert Hall in London for a three-night stint. Then it's back to New York in early September and a four-show run in L.A.

The question is whether this is really it or whether he'll come back again next year with more shows. Clapton suffers from peripheral neuropathy, a nerve disease that gives his extremities both pain and occasional numbness and, according to the guitarist, has been hurting his ability to play.
