Oasis Wins Two NME Awards, Metallica & Beyonce Win One; Pet Shop Boys Are Godlike Geniuses

The 2017 VO5 NME Awards are history with a few veteran artists sneaking through the gaggle of modern acts.

Oasis, who aren't even together, won two awards, taking Best Music Film for Oasis: Supersonic and Best Reissue for Be Here Now.

Metallica took home Best International Band while Beyonce took Hero of the Year.

One of the biggest highlights of the night, though, was the awarding of the Godlike Genius honor to the Pet Shop Boys. Johnny Marr introduced the duo, saying "The winners of this award have changed pop music, over three decades, with hit after hit after hit. They brought romance, glamour, style, high art to the wonderful thing that is pop music."

Neil Tennant said, upon accepting the honor, "Our career has been such a huge collaboration with producers, programmers, remixers and I would just like to thank every one of them – and accept this on behalf on electronic music, dance music and shiny pop music. Thank you very much."

The band then took the stage to perform a medley including:
