Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter and the Indigo Girls to Tour Together

by VVN Music

There are a ton of tour announcements out today, but the most innovative may be the "Four Voices Tour" featuring Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter and the Indigo Girls.

The three veteran acts first conceived of the tour when they all played Baez's 75th birthday concert last year but their association goes back much farther. They first played together in 1991 at a benefit that Baez organized for her Humanitas charity.

Since that time, they have also played together at an Earth Day show in Boston and the Newport Folk Festival.

While the exact format for the show has yet to be announced, the press release did state that the singers "will share the stage in a special group performance as Four Voices."
