Charlie Wilson, Ryan Adams & Alison Krauss All Have Top Ten Debuts

by VVN Music

Three veteran artists have debuted in the top ten on this week's Billboard 200.

Charlie Wilson returns to the big ten for the fourth time in his solo career as In It to Win It debuts at number 7.

Wilson's last album, 2015's Forever Charley, only made it to 17 but he previously made it with Charlie, Last Name Wilson (2005 / #10), Uncle Charlie (2009 / #2) and Love, Charlie (2013 / #4).

Ryan Adams opens at number 8 with Prisoner, his second top ten in a row and fifth of his career.

The very prolific Adams first made it in 2007 with Easy Tiger (#7) followed by Ashes & Fire (2011 / #7), Ryan Adams (2014 / #4) and 1989 (2015 / #7).

Adam's album is also at the top of the Tastemaker, Rock, Alternative and Americana/Folk Album charts.

Alison Krauss gets her fourth top ten album as Windy City debuts at number 9. She previously made it with A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection (2007 / #10), Raising Sand with Robert Plant (2007 / #2) and Alison Krauss & Union Station's Paper Airplane (2011 / #3).

The bigger news for Krauss is that she has also scored her second number 1 Country album and tenth to make the top ten on that tally.
  • Now That I've Found You: A Collection (1995 / #2)
  • So Long So Wrong (Alison Krauss & Union Station) (1997 / #4)
  • Forget About It (1999 / #5)
  • New Favorite (Alison Krauss & Union Station) (2001 / #3)
  • Live (Alison Krauss & Union Station) (2002 / #9)
  • Lonely Runs Both Ways (Alison Krauss & Union Station) (2004 / #6)
  • A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection (2007 / #3)
  • Raising Sand (with Robert Plant) (2007 / #2)
  • Paper Airplane (Alison Krauss & Union Station) (2011 / #1)
  • Windy City (2017 / #1)
Windy City also is at the top of the Bluegrass Albums chart.

Further down the chart at 44 is the premier of Fat Joe & Remy Ma's Plata O Plomo. This is a bit of a drop from Fat Joe's last album, 2010's The Darkside, Vol. 1, which peaked at 27.

Finally, Son Volt debuts at 44 with Notes of Blue. Amazingly, this ties the highest that the group has ever charted and it is the THIRD time that they have peaked at 44. Their second album, Straightaways, did it in 1997 and American Central Dust duplicated the number in 2009.
