Blondie Sets New Album, "Pollinator", Releases "Fun" Single, Sets Tour

by VVN Music

There's a lot of news from the Blondie front today as they announce a new album, single and tour.

Blondie will release Pollinator on May 5 via BMG. Produced by John Congleton and recorded at the now closed Magic Shop, the album includes guest appearances by Joan Jett, Laurie Anderson, John Roberts and the Gregory Brothers along with songs written by the likes of Johnny Marr, Sia, Charli XCX, David Sitek of TV on the Radio, Nick Valensi of the Strokes and Dev Hynes.

According to sources, the album has more of the sound of Blondie's earlier recordings, giving up on the EDM style of their last album, Ghosts of Download.

The first single, Fun, is a collaboration with Sitek and returns the band to a bit of a disco sound. Guitarist Chris Stein said "Quoting Emma Goldman, ‘If I can’t dance I don’t want to be part of your revolution.’ In these trying times we need some fun."

The track list for Pollinator:
  • Doom or Destiny
  • Long Time
  • Already Naked
  • Fun
  • My Monster
  • Best Day Ever
  • Gravity
  • When I Gave up on You
