Beyonce Jumps Back to American Top Ten After Grammy's; Overkill Have Biggest Debut

by VVN Music

The full effect of the Grammy Awards showed up on this week's American charts.

A number of artists who performed or were saluted on the show saw surges in sales for the week with the big winner being Beyonce. Her Lemonade album rose 33 to 9 while older releases Beyonce went 122 to 98 and I Am Sasha...Fierce moved 154 to 134.

Also climbing were Keith Urban's Ripcord (39 to 23 in its 41st week on the chart), Prince's 4Ever (189 to 33), Metallica's Hardwired...to Self Destruct (62 to 35) and A Tribe Called Quest's We Got It From Here...Thank You 4 Your Service (179 to 83).

Overkill had the highest debut of the week for a veteran artist with The Grinding Wheel. The number 69 start falls well short of their last album, White Devil Armory (2014 / #31) but still becomes the second highest charting album of their career in the U.S.

The only other debut by a veteran artist is a disappointing one for Michael Bolton. His Songs of Cinema opens at 177, the lowest for one of his studio albums since 1999's Timeless: The Classics 2 failed to chart.

Last week's top veteran seller, Reba McEntire's Sing It Now: Songs of Hope and Faith only dropped 4 to 16 in its second week and stays at the top of both the Country and Christian Albums charts.

On the singles side, Daft Punk returns to the top ten for the second time this year, once again supporting The Weeknd, with I Feel it Coming and former country queen LeAnn Rimes is at the top of the Dance Club chart with Long Live Love.
